Long story short is.............Husband and I purchased a laptop for my daughter to take to college w/her. Lovely, no problem her first year. During the summer after her first year, my daughter took her Laptop to CompUSA for a small minor problem with her battery not holding a charge. Didn't think this would be a problem, considering the outstanding service contract that was sold to us. The nightmare began........The inexperienced Tech's completed gutted my daughters PC. We were in and out of CompUsa so much until I began to think that was our summer home.

Now we're not one to sit idle when we KNOW that things aren't right. Our blood really began to boil when they started dodging our phone calls. We called and called and called......and e-mailed and e-mailed and e-mailed.........We got our local TV station consumer advocates to located corporate telephone numbers for us. In about a 5 month span we eventually got ALL of our money back (in the form of store credit that is). We purchased another Laptop and declined the store warranty. People don't realize that the maker of the particular PC that you're buying offers warranty repairs. In our case it was Compaq. 110% better service and much much cheaper.

I could write a book about CompUSA. After using the store credit, we had a little over $100 credit left. I refused to buy anything but computer paper, printer ribbon, etc.

Please please please don't take yourself through the hassle of trying to get a problem resolved through Comp. If you purchase from them, make sure you DECLINE their warranty. Buy your own warranty through the brand (Compaq, Packard bell, etc) that you purchased.

CompUSA store that we dealt with is in Houston, Texas......
